DOS games developed by Digital Cafe

Digital Café was a St. Paul, Minnesota new-media studio founded in 1991 by Dean Hyers and Mike Koenigs. In the DOS world it’s remembered chiefly for Chex Quest (released for MS-DOS as a General Mills cereal-box giveaway) and its follow-up Chex Quest 2, both built on id Tech 1 as a lighthearted, kid-friendly twist on Doom. The studio blended game development with interactive advertising and promotional media, and in October 1998 it was acquired by the advertising firm Campbell Mithun Esty; soon after, it was folded into the agency network that became Zentropy Partners. On this page you can play Digital Café’s DOS games online for free, and revisit one of the most famous promo-game success stories.
