Kingsoft GmbH was a German video-game publisher and distributor founded in 1982 by Fritz Schäfer and later based in Aachen. In the late 1980s and early 1990s it built a reputation in Germany for affordable “budget” releases and reliable store deliveries. For DOS players, Kingsoft put out a mix of clever puzzlers and arcadey action, with titles such as Locomotion, Bug Bomber, Gravity Force and Turn It (plus other smaller PC releases). These games often aim for fast, pick-up-and-play fun rather than long manuals. As the business evolved, Kingsoft increasingly focused on distribution and was acquired by Electronic Arts in 1995.
